Jump Rope For Heart

When is it?  Jump Rope For Heart always takes place the week before Febuary  vacation during your child’s phys. ed. class.

What is it?  Jump Rope For Heart is an annual event I do in my Phys. Ed. classes at both Blackrock and Western usually the week before February vacation.  The program is sponsored by the American Heart Association which is fighting the number one cause of death in the United States: Heart Disease.  I have each class that week jump rope for 20 minutes  straight (taking breaks when needed).  At the end of the 20 minutes we count up all the jumps that each member of the class did and come up with one grand class total.   That class total is displayed on a grade level bar graph poster in the gym so that everyone in the school can see how hard that class worked.

Why do we do JRFH?  We participate in this event so that as a school we can raise money for the American Heart Association to help fight Heart Disease.  We also take part in this event to help spread awareness on how important it is to be healthy and take care of our hearts.

What can I do to help?  To help in this event is just to fundraise the best that you can and get ready to show how healthy your heart is by jumping.
