th Grade Overview
Math: We have begun comparing fractions. We learned that some fractions are equivalent. Example: 1/2 is equivalent to 2/4, 3/6, 4/8 etc.. We use a chart and our rulers to compare fractions .
Reading: We are studying about WWII in Social Studies
and connecting the theme with non-fiction and historical fiction books.
Writing: We are learning how to write lead sentences using quotes, statistics, bold opinions, interesting facts and descriptions.
We hav
e been looking at examples of thesis statements. A thesis statement is a point of view that is put forth as an argument often using research . We will apply our new skills in writing to a science research piece on an ocean animal of our choice. We will research our animal and write an informative essay on the feeding, movement and protection characteristics.
