Writing is a form of communication and spelling is an integrated part of writing. Studies have shown that the more children are exposed to a word the more they will take ownership of it. In second grade the suggested minimum requirement for mastery in writing consists of thirty five words in which children will be learning strategies to master them. Our students will learn to master these words along with the Coventry School District's spelling curriculum words. The words listed below are the thirty five word minimum mastery list that are in frequency-of use order.
